My College Experience

GET YOUR EDGUMACATION

Over the years I’ve been referred to as a jock or a frat boy,
so people sometimes assume I go or went to college. I’ve
been asked what it’s like and if upcoming skaters should
go. Now I don’t tell anyone what to do, but I do talk
about the pros and cons I’ve seen and experienced living
in a college area. So this is my blog about college.

I got lucky, I never had to go to college. I never even applied for college. A lot of people in my family were concerned what I was going to do. Fortunately, I graduated high school first try with a GED in kickflips never having to walk into a classroom again. It took me about 2 years to realize I just took myself out of (what most call) “the best years of my life”. I didn’t understand it though because I was traveling the world, meeting girls, getting into bars before I was 21, skating the best spots I could ever skate, what better life could I live?

It was in 2003 when I took my friend Zack’s advise and drove down to SDSU for one of his house parties. Now at this time, I thought it would be Zack and friends w/ a bunch of football meat heads waiting for a dumb reason to fight. Instead, we had the hottest girls on campus wearing almost nothing waiting to get fucked. I was shocked. I’ve seen these girls before I swear, I just didn’t have any single dollar bills on me. I was clueless on how this was possible or how to interact w/ these students because I don’t go to school, I just skate. Easy enough w/ the help of friends and a large consumption of alcohol, I got into my comfort zone and ended up talking to a beautiful girl about the big bang theory. I woke up the next morning in amazement. I didn’t know a party could be that crazy and fun.

After a few more experiences partying with friends down in SDSU, it was clear I needed to be in this environment permanently. A few months later I moved down to San Diego right next to SDSU. Actually, I moved in SDSU. I was two blocks away from campus and surrounded by party’s party’s and kids my age that love to party. I built a 40 ft wide mini ramp in my backyard, a huge deck, hot tub, outside speakers, two fireplaces, floor shakers for the TV room and a ping pong table (key). It’s safe to say, the house I moved into was insane.

My goodfriends that went to school there had a good philosophy, “Study hard, party hard”. They kept telling me to walk to class with them so we could look at all the talent (talent meaning hot girls). It was crazy. Just walking the campus during the day was almost like a fashion show. My friend Nat was telling me it gets even better when the weather warms up for summer. I would of for sure gone to class more in high school if my school had more girls like this.

So to wrap up my point here for you young skaters that are reading this, college isn’t a bad thing. The dumb stereotypes you hear about college are from people that didn’t do it right. It’s up to you and how you want your college experience to be. If I had a choice, I’d go to a fun party school (SDSU). But maybe some of you wanna stay focused and take your education further in whatever your passion is. It’s your choice, you have to research the schools that follow your path. If your confused, take a year off to figure it out. Colleges aren’t going anywhere, so don’t panic when high school ends. Good luck and invite me to some party’s.

All the experiences I had in this blog were based on my own intuition to live a life style outside the norm of what I had. Be open minded to the fact college isn’t all about the things I wrote, but from what I feel are key points into letting you know what may lie ahead. Thanks for reading.
